    Notes:

Ethel Mary Bailer developed a rash that was diagnosed as "Black Erysipelas." The doctor would drive to the Bailer's residence each day to put a salve on Ethel. It was to no avail. The rash spread over the entire body and Ethel eventually succumbed to the disease. Her mother Dora would carry her as she did her housework and chores as Ethel was either in pain or extremely uncomfortable.
Infant Ethel's death was quite traumatic on Dora who went into a state of depression as a result. The doctor suggested that she take in "Fresh Air" children from New York City. It was at this point that they took in a boy during the summer by the name of Kurtz. His sister stayed with Luella (Hobart) Bailer.
