    From Hoar to Hobart    		From Hoar to Hobart
    The Hoar name was changed by several of the Hoard brothers to Hobart. In that day it took an act of the New York State legislature to change a name.

  • Notes 
    • "Left Brimfield at age 19 and traveled west. Stopped in NYS, returned to Brimfield. In 1792 he returned and settled on Pompey Hill (NYS) where he lived for 19 years. He moved to Tully where his first wife died. (1st wife Susan Shevalier) He had nine children by 1st wife. He then married her sister, Lany or Lydia, and had 9 more children. Birth name Hoar. In 1829 changed name to Hoburt on petition of his brother Aaron. Other children changed to Homer and Hobart. Beverly J. Gardner, Canastota, NY."

      Beverly states that Dix had 9 children by each wife (18 total)
